DOCF

Today I'm posting about a serious cause that Massachusetts Professional Sports is now supporting. It is a foundation held by a star New England athletic, David Ortiz. It is called the David Ortiz Children's fund. Its cause is to raise money for children in the Northeast cannot afford critical medical attention. David hosts many fund raisers, including golf tournaments and other events for children. This foundation has saved thousands of lives and is a great cause.

Celtics Vs Lin

The celtics got their first taste of Linsanity on sunday and defeated the Knicks in overtime. Jeremy Lin had a solid performance but in the end the celtics pulled through with some clutch shots by Paul Pierce including a 3 pointer to tie with 5 seconds left in the fourth quarter. The celtics held the lead for most of the game but Lin and the Knicks made an impresive comback late in the game but it was not enough to stop the celts. This was a key game as the celtics and knicks are both fighting for a playoff spot this season.

Whats new for the red sox

The red sox are well on their way to the season opener and have seen many changes to their roster. First and foremost Jason Varitek, the catcher and captain retired during this offseason. Another key member, Tim Wakefield retired as well.

The Sox had many pick ups this season as well. One major player the sox acquired was Cody Ross. Cody was a standout in 2010 for the Giants and helped lead them to a world series. The Sox also picked up Nick Punto, star shortstop from the Minnesota twins, but had to give up Marco Scuturo in the process. This was a questionable move because the Scuturo was a top performer last season. I believe the Red Sox have great chance to make the playoffs season if Carl Crawford and some of the Red Sox's other big names can perform up to potential this season.

Celtics in All Star Game

Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce along with a star studded Eastern all star team lost to the Western all stars in last nights NBA All Star Game. The final score was a whopping 152 to 149. Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics, had a decent performance which included 8 assists. Pierce on the other hand, did not contribute much to the game, with only 3 points. The begining of the game was somewhat of a show for both teams, which included many huge dunks and ally oops by Lebron James and Blake Griffin, both on the Western all stars. Heres a highlight reel of some of these jams and ally oops,

As you can see the game was pretty laid back for the first half, but the game fired up towards the end of the third quarter. It turned out to be a great game and it came down to the final minutes. Overall it proved to be an entertaining game even though the celtics did not play a huge role.

Newest NBA star out of Harvard.

If you've watched any sports center lately, you've probably heard of one of the NBA's newest stars, Jeremy Lin. He's a local kid out of Harvard and has been riding the bench throughout last season and finally received the chance he needed to prove himself this season with the Knicks. Not only did he prove that he could perform in the big time, but that he could be a star. In his past five games Lin has averaged 24 points 10 assists and 5 rebounds and had a standout performance against the Lakers with 38 points. Heres a picture of Jeremy Lin in his performance agianst the lakers

As you can see Jeremy has some serious potential to be an NBA standout.

Eli Strikes Again

The New England Patriots suffered a tough loss to the New York Giants on Sunday night last weekend. For the second consecutive super bowl Eli Manning and Giants defeated the Patriots with a 4th quarter drive that led to an Amhad Bradshaw touchdown. There have been many debates since sunday on the reasons for the pats loss. One reason for their loss was poor play by the team leader, Tom Brady who made a major mistake on the Patriots' opening drive. The Patriots were pinned down at the 5 yard line and Tom Brady threw the ball away and was called for intentional grounding which resulted in a safety. Another fault in the patriots play came from numerous pass drops throughout the game. One key drop was made by Wes Welker in the fourth quarter. Welker dropped a pass on the 10 yard line that would have most likely resulted in a touchdown. The pass was not perfect however and was thrown behind Welker and high as seen here.

Although many players did not perform up to their potential, you cant blame the loss on one player. The Patriots were simply out played by the Giants and that is the reason they lost this game.

Gronkowski In for this Sunday?

As most of you probably know, this Sunday marks what is the most watched and popular football game of the year, the super bowl. This year is the New England Patriots' sixth appearance in the big game and they are hoping to win their fifth super bowl, but are challenging the New York Giants. This is significant because the Giants defeated the Patriots in their last super bowl matchup in a close game that ended with an amazing final drive for the Giants. This year, the Patriots are expected to win the game by a close margin, but currently have one of their key players injured, Rob Gronkowski. Rob has been a key factor to the Patriots offense this year and was arguably Tom Brady's favorite target. In the AFC Championship, Gronkowski was tackled and twisted his angle severely as you can see in this picture.

The report on his injury is a high left ankle sprain and he is questionable for the big game on sunday. Rob has been working hard with the patriots trainers every day and has been seeing significant improvements. My prediction for this sunday is that the Patriots will come out on top in a close game with a score of 27-24.
